Local Knowledge

We Know Cloverdale Roofs

Cloverdale was directly evacuated during the 2019 Kincade Fire, with the blaze burning through rural properties on the town's eastern and southern flanks. Sitting at the gateway to the Alexander Valley and bordered by Clover Springs Preserve, Pine Mountain, and the Mayacamas range, much of Cloverdale lies within California's Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) making Class A fire-rated roofs essential, not optional.

North Sonoma County's climate is harsher than coastal Marin. 100 F+ summer days bake roof materials in the Alexander Valley sun, while winter storms off the Russian River dump heavy rain on aging roofs. Many of Cloverdale's downtown Victorians date to the 1872 incorporation era and have layered roofing that needs careful, knowledgeable tear-offs.

We install GAF systems and standing seam metal roofs spec'd for Cloverdale's specific conditions: WUI fire risk, high UV exposure, and rural properties with longer roof spans than typical suburban homes.

Information

Cloverdale Roofing FAQs

Is my Cloverdale home in a Wildland-Urban Interface fire zone?

Most of Cloverdale and the surrounding rural properties fall within the WUI especially anything backing up to Clover Springs Preserve, Pine Mountain, or the Mayacamas foothills. The 2019 Kincade Fire burned right up to town. Class A fire-rated roofing is required for replacements in mapped zones, and insurance carriers are increasingly strict about it. We use only Class A systems and can confirm your exact zone during the free inspection.

Does the City of Cloverdale require a roofing permit?

Yes. The City of Cloverdale Building Division requires permits for re-roofing projects within city limits. Rural properties in unincorporated Sonoma County (including much of the Alexander Valley vineyard estate land around Cloverdale) go through Permit Sonoma. We pull permits and handle inspections either way you don't have to deal with the offices.

Can you work on my downtown Cloverdale Victorian?

Yes. Many of Cloverdale's downtown homes date back to the city's 1872 incorporation, with original wood sheathing, decorative trim, and multiple layers of historic roofing material. These projects require careful tear-offs, attention to original flashing details, and respect for the architectural character that makes downtown Cloverdale special. We've worked on plenty of period homes throughout North Sonoma County and Mendocino County.

Do you work on vineyard estate properties and outbuildings?

Absolutely. We work on Alexander Valley vineyard estates and the agricultural buildings that come with them tasting rooms, barns, equipment storage, guest cottages. Standing seam metal is often the right call for outbuildings because of its 50+ year lifespan and superior fire resistance. We can phase larger property projects to minimize disruption to harvest season or guest stays.

How long does a Cloverdale roof replacement take?

Most asphalt shingle replacements complete in 1-2 days. Standing seam metal and larger rural properties typically run 3-5 days. We dispatch from our Ukiah office, just 27 miles north on Highway 101, so we minimize disruption to your household. Crews arrive on time, clean up daily, and finish when we say we will.
